Week 8 Exam (reflection)

Last last week....

EXAMS!!!!
ok, we had just finish the last one, and it is the ICT's exam.
Hmm...do not really have a lot to comment about, but I think it is very important that we actually did learnt a lot of stuff in this subject, even though, it is heavy because of the rushing assignments. However, we survived!

A BIG thanks to all lecturer and coursemates that helped in the subject, wish we will continue to apply what we had learnt in our daily life and also in the future while teaching the kids!!

Week 7 Assignment (reflection)

Last week...felt relief after doing the last assignment.

So, this week, I learn a lot about Microsoft Excel.

I used to learn accounting and use Microsoft Excel to do the Balance sheet and other stuff, but I never really learn the real way of entering the formula to make work easier (hmm...so what's the point of using Microsoft Excel if I don't really know how to use the formula??) any way, now I know how to make a student grade spreadsheet and I can imagine how suffering it is, for a teacher to do the spreadsheet for all the students and classes in school if they do not know how to use Microsoft Excel to do it.

In conclusion, I really appreciate this week's lesson and it will help me a lot in my future while doing the students grade spreadsheets. =)

Week 6 Assignment (reflection)

Just end a busy busy week...

Honestly, I enjoy a lot for this week's assignment. =)

I started searching for movie clips in You tube, then, instead of using Windows Movie Maker (as I am using Mac), i use "imovie"(the Mac version of Windows Movie Maker) to cut it shorter and put it into the powerpoint. 

Besides that, this is the 1st time I use Audacity to cut two different songs and make them into one. I had a experience of recording the sounds and cut or add in some other sound effect and it was fun!! I guess I just really enjoy doing multimedia stuff =)

So this is what I learned and what I feel about this week's assignments. Thanks to the ICT classes that I get to learn more interesting ways to do a powerpoint, movie as well as editing the songs~

Week 5 Assignment (reflection)

Hi again!

another week of assignments.

So, this week, we had learnt to edit pictures/ graphics and to create brochure in Microsoft Publisher and a  bookfold/ booklet in Microsoft word.

I really had headache while searching for the "bookfold" in Microsoft Word, it took me 2 days!! (Wow)

hmm...but after doing it, now i'm wondering whether it is suppose to be "bookfold" or the theme "booklet"...However, I still finished the assignment, right? ^^ 

now moving on,

Week 4 Assignment (reflection)

This week, we finished analyzing the data which we had collected from the Google docs and Survey Monkey. We used SPSS(which we only have the trial ones) to calculate the frequency and wrote a report about the survey. 

We found out that teacher trainees are aware of the importance of 21st Century Skills and most of them see themselves as "computer native" which is a good sign. Besides that, I think students should continue to improve themselves in the 21st Century Skills as it helps them not only in their studies but also for their future in the workplace.

week 3 assignments (reflection)

There are three topics in week 3, 

1. The Research for C/LMS
2. The Literature Review
3. The Surveys

The Research for C/LMS

I learnt that C/LMS is actually a software application that can be useful in the education system that i helps to record and track the programs and events going on. It helps the students to have a virtual space to interact, have discussion or web-conferences. As it can help to connect the students from different places, it is basically very good e-learning. I think that teachers should use it widely to help the students as it can track the students' progress and performance throughout the programme or course, so teachers can be aware of the students improvements and help based on their needs.

The Literature Review

As 21st Century Skills are not a new thing in Malaysia Education, I think that it should be reinforced in the education system. It had been introduced since 1996, but in my opinion, there is still lack of effort to let all students in Malaysia acquired the basic skills of 21st Century. It is a skill that is required for the students nowadays to thrive for their future. As a environment lover, I, personally think that, if it is possible, students should be carrying laptop instead of textbooks to school, as it helps to save a lot of trees by reducing the making of papers. In addition, students that carry laptop to school can also avoid the problem of forgetting to bring their textbooks.  For students who are poor, I think the government should help by sponsoring the students or the school to buy computer or laptop. The more of using ICT in education, the better the students get to acquire the 21st Century Skills.

The Surveys 

1st time using Survey Monkey. I think it is good for doing surveys, although we had a bit of problem of typing 30++ questions =) Honestly, I prefer Survey Monkey more than Google Doc's Form... It is easier to manage.

21st Century Skills (Reflection)

After doing this assignment, I found out more about the problem of ICT in education faces, such as not having enough fund to have better facilities in the schools in Malaysia. Besides that, most of the senior teachers are just trying to learn and master the skills of teaching their students by using ICT. As due to the rapid pace of the modernisation and globalisation, this kind of problems will cause the students and also the teachers to be out-dated and it is not a good sign for our country.

So, I think that it is a good start of giving us, the teacher trainees to learn Computer in Education. It helps us to acquire the skills earlier and we can use it while teaching in the future as we had already mastered the skills.
